But maybe this was all due to the legendary instinctual bond between a father and daughter, so for a while, the mood around us was a little complicated.

Later that evening, I sent Li You over to Lee Moli's, and spent the weekend at the school meeting with my club to discuss the activities that will be held at the end of the month. So after that, on Tuesday morning, I was planning to go find Xiao Huaisu and clear things up—to ask him if I owed him any money. Because if it isn't that, what other reason would he have to treat me so coldly after he came back? Why would he he act like he didn't even recognise me!

And perhaps the atmosphere had gotten a bit too good because I had also gleefully followed suit and told Xiao Huaisu bye-bye too.

The flames of gossip were kindled within me, so completely forgetting the main character of the event was right in front of us, I excitedly demanded to Qiao Damai: "Hurry, hurry up! I wanna see it, where is it?"

It's said that if you say the flames of familial love will be extinguished, they will be extinguished. For two hours I decided to sever my father-daughter ties with Li You, and those two hours she was never to allow me to claim her mine.

But, unexpectedly, Li You then dropped the line: "My dad told me you look just like my mom." She looked towards Xiao Huaisu, her little face as serious as can be as she said that line to him, making Xiao Huaisu slowly turn his gaze towards me yet again.

Causing Xiao Huaisu to turn around yet again and glance towards Li You before shaking his head and adding: "Seriously?"

But for someone as cool-headed as me, something like being trapped by Li You couldn't stop me from maintaining the calm demeanour a slick fourth year university student like myself ought to have. So after sticking my hand in my pocket to take out my phone, I pretended I had bent down to pick it up off the ground, then donned a brilliant smile to show I was as cool as a cucumber.

Only then did I finally remember, I had come to the professor's canteen to find Xiao Huaisu and reminisce about our, oh so beautiful, memories of days past. We had still only shared a few sentences before Qiao Damai busted in midway and killed it. Our beautiful time being crushed in a flash by his words—I really hope this was all just an illusion!

Just as I arrived at the canteen, Qiao Damai sent me a message via WeChat asking where I was.

Rushing over (in a not so calm manner) to that group of... one, two, three, four professors, I greeted them with a "Hi—" which I regretted instantly. Who was I saying hi to? Which one of them was I close enough to to greet that way? Thus I correctively added, "I came here to see Professor Yan... but it looks like he's not here so... I won't disturb you all..." the smile on my face froze when my gaze fell onto the one standing beside Xiao Huaisu. Xiao Huaisu's gaze was fixed on Li You; and I, who stood off to the side, ran my eyes back and forth between both Xiao Huaisu and Li You. I couldn't even dupe myself into believing that Xiao Huaisu was not her father. Because when those two stood next to one another, it was clear as day for anyone to see that they had been cut from the exact same cloth—they were that remarkably similar.

But just as an immense pressure was beating down on my head, and I was hesitantly debating if I should make a break for it or not, Qiao Damai burst in, panting. Leaning himself on the table, wearing a startled expression on his face, he then said said to me: "Li Tian... The post in the school forum... Did you see it?"

As I scurried away with Li You, I caught wind of the ongoing conversation inside.

I was planning to go grab Li You, but right at that moment, Xiao Huaisu's gaze fell on me. I was not wearing any glasses today, and I had gotten a haircut a couple days ago because I thought... I had thought Xiao Huaisu couldn't recognise me any longer...

He shot a frigid glance my way, then turned to that professor who was discussing dinner plans with him to continue their conversation. It seemed as though he did not see me or recognise me at all, striking me with the sudden realisation, making me wonder... Did I owe that guy some money before he left back then? Was it, like, a lot of money? Even though I was thinking about these things, I still kept a smile on my face as I moved to take hold of Li You and was preparing to leave.

And perhaps the atmosphere had gotten a bit too good because I had also gleefully followed suit and told Xiao Huaisu bye-bye too.

His brow raised, but he still did not say a word.

The flames of gossip were kindled within me, so completely forgetting the main character of the event was right in front of us, I excitedly demanded to Qiao Damai: "Hurry, hurry up! I wanna see it, where is it?"

I replied by saying I was at the teacher's canteen, straightening my back right after before I then strode in excitedly. I scanned the entire cafeteria until I finally laid eyes on Xiao Huaisu, who was sitting in the middle of the room all by his lonesome and eating his breakfast. I walked over to him, keeping my lips zipped as I dropped my onto the seat facing his, but because I used a little to much strength with that move, I knocked the table, spilling a little bit on his soup—um... well, more like a huge bit. How embarrassing.

Was it something amazing?!

The female Art Appreciation professor kept looking at the three of us back and forth, but when she saw me with Li You in hand and getting ready to leave, she then said to Xiao Huaisu in a voice laced in surprise: "Xiao Huaisu, is that girl seriously not your daughter? The two of you look so much alike—" she whipped out her phone as she spoke, seeming as if she wanted to snap a picture of him and Li You.

Qiao Damai pulled out his phone, swiping the screen twice, unlocking it. But unable to deal with the sweat dripping from his forehead, he handed the device to me with a face completely flushed, "They even took a video!"

Was it something amazing?!

Just as I arrived at the canteen, Qiao Damai sent me a message via WeChat asking where I was.

"Look where you're going. How can you still be absentminded when you're carrying a kid?" Xiao Huaisu's brows furrowed. He criticized me no different than a student who messed up, before reaching out to rub Li You's head, rather naturally, then handing her over to me. "Hold her properly."

Was it something amazing?!

Xiao Huaisu put down his chopsticks, unperturbed as he looked at me, while I continued, "Do I owe you money?"

I stared at Li You: "..." You screwed me over—again???

"The one where two male student were fighting in the cafeteria over chasing Xiao Huaisu!"

Later that evening, I sent Li You over to Lee Moli's, and spent the weekend at the school meeting with my club to discuss the activities that will be held at the end of the month. Gently pinching Li You's cheek, Xiao Huaisu smiled as he then said: "Bye-bye."

And Li You looked at me, with a smile ever so sweet, causing me to feel just a tad better about being tossed under the bus. But more importantly, was the fact that I could not stay here any longer. If I kept lingering around here everyone might end up suspecting me to be a kidnapper—it was just so awkward.

Leaving me to think, "..." You never treated me this way back then!

It's said that if you say the flames of familial love will be extinguished, they will be extinguished. For two hours I decided to sever my father-daughter ties with Li You, and those two hours she was never to allow me to claim her mine.

"Ah, this is so exciting!!" Don't look down on A-University folks! So with no hesitation, I opened up the video. After noticing no movement on Qiao Damai's part to stop me from playing it, since nobody's mobile data grows on trees. Even though the video was only a few seconds in, it was turning out to be a waste of data, but just when I was getting doubtful, the video lens moved its focus from the corner to the center of the of the cafeteria, showing two male students—

His brow raised, but he still did not say a word.

"Xiao Huaisu, you saw it with your own eyes too. But doesn't every bit of that little girls face look a whole lot like yours? And that kid's father looks so young too, yet he's already a father. When my thirty-two year old self finally has a family, I'll be ancient."

"You're not allowed to like Xiao Huaisoo!" The sound and video quality of the video weren't that great, but it created the exact kind of situation that'll make it harder to discern whether the video was real or fake.

"Some people just look young for their age, maybe that guy is already over thirty," another professor chimed in.

Both of us fell into despair. I worriedly looked at Qiao Damai, who was himself also worried. Qiao Damai then swept his gaze opposite of me, returning it to me to say: "How could this—" his voice faltered while he spoke, his gaze again sweeping to the one opposite me, his eyes growing wide when he saw Xiao Huaisu beside me, "Hic—" Scared, little by little he retreated, his hands resting on my shoulders while he added, "L-Li Tian, what am I going to do? What am I going to do? I'm so scared I even started hallucinating!"

"Look where you're going. How can you still be absentminded when you're carrying a kid?" Xiao Huaisu's brows furrowed. He criticized me no different than a student who messed up, before reaching out to rub Li You's head, rather naturally, then handing her over to me. "Hold her properly."

I stared at Qiao Damai with a face drained of life! I really, really wanted to smack him, but for the sake of my spicy Sichuan stewed fish, I endured.

After I got out of there, my sole focus was on listening to the people chatting inside, so I failed to see the rubbish bin beside me and ended up knocking directly into it. The act resulting in Li You being moments away from being thrown from my arms, but in that split second, a pair of arms came from behind me, safely pulling Li You into their embrace as well as effortlessly holding me up too. With my hands clutching my chest, I bowed repeatedly as I expressed my undying gratitude, "Thank you! Thank you so much—" then exclaimed, "That scared the life outta me!" before lifting my head with my arms outstretched, ready to take back Li You. But when I saw Li You, who was—to my surprise—in Xiao Huaisu arms, my face became drenched in pure fright as I looked at him.

Stunned, Qiao Damai then chuckled: "Yeah, that's right! We were fighting over a girl named Xiao Huaisoo, not Xiao Huaisu!" followed by slapping his thigh at his fortune of successfully tossing my butt under the bus.

To be honest, this action made me feel more like a nanny and like Xiao Huaisu was the real dad.

My intuition told he actually did recognise me, but it looked like he did not want to talk to me at all. Making me try really hard to recall whether I really had owed him money I never paid back.

"How old are you, sweetheart?" Xiao Huaisu, despite being cold to me, when he asked this to Li You, had reminded me of the warm and friendly Huaisu-ge from all those years back who had painstakingly, and patiently, given me lesson in English and Math.

I stared at Qiao Damai with a face drained of life! I really, really wanted to smack him, but for the sake of my spicy Sichuan stewed fish, I endured.

Xiao Huaisu shot me a penetrating stare, not a word leaving his lips before he turned then left.

Effortlessly holding up three fingers, Li You then replied: "Three and a half."

Just as I arrived at the canteen, Qiao Damai sent me a message via WeChat asking where I was.

Wait, those two guys in the video couldn't be Qiao Damai and me... Well, who else could they be! Ah, this video is way too crafty. Afterwards was the clearly the sentence "Otherwise you won't at any of my Sichuan fish stew in the future!" and after that line was heard, I found it hard to believe that they could still think those two guys were fighting over Xuiao Huaisu. So after I was done watching the video I scrolled down to find the poster's sincere description of the incident: The black shirt guy and the white T-shirt guy seem to both be friends, and it appears that both of them like Professor Xiao. The black shirt guy even told the white T-shirt guy not to fight with him over...

"Look where you're going. How can you still be absentminded when you're carrying a kid?" Xiao Huaisu's brows furrowed. He criticized me no different than a student who messed up, before reaching out to rub Li You's head, rather naturally, then handing her over to me. "Hold her properly."

I could already sense that Li You was not too happy with having her face pinched, but she did not turn her face away, bearing Xiao Huaisu's actions and even courteously giving him a bye-bye in return, much to my utter shock. Because normally, when anyone wanted to touch her face, she would react by immediately turn her face away to show she did not want this treatment.

From next to me, Qiao Damai then said: "Right now we're trending, and everyone was quick to figure out that the one in black was called Qiao Damai, and that the one in the white tee was Li Tian. Saying they both like Xiao Huaisu, and because of him, the two of them are fighting!"

And perhaps the atmosphere had gotten a bit too good because I had also gleefully followed suit and told Xiao Huaisu bye-bye too.

While Li You, using her three-year old brain, analyzed the situation for me: "Maybe he's not happy that you said he looked like a woman and that he looked like my mother."

Causing Xiao Huaisu to turn around yet again and glance towards Li You before shaking his head and adding: "Seriously?"

However, to myself, I innocently thought: It must be when I burrowed money from your father and didn't pay him back. That's probably why our little friendship boat overturned.

Unable to sit still now, I tried to fix it, saying: "Qiao Damai, why are you getting yourself all worked up? All you have to do is make a follow up post explaining that Xiao Huaisu was actually a girl named Xiao Huaisoo and not Professor Xiao. It'll all be fine as long as you explain it."

"How old are you, sweetheart?" Xiao Huaisu, despite being cold to me, when he asked this to Li You, had reminded me of the warm and friendly Huaisu-ge from all those years back who had painstakingly, and patiently, given me lesson in English and Math.

Who the hell are these people around me, huh??? Who the hell was fighting with you? Why would you defame me right in front of my Prince Charming??

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, I heard that Professor Xiao would go eat at the teacher's canteen every Tuesday. So my plan was to go talk to him there then afterwards had planned on taking advantage of my convenient passing through the canteen since I also caught wind that they were having authentic Taiwanese flaky scallion parathas today. But, to be honest, I'm not sure if I'll be able to eat after we have our talk.

When I couldn't see him, I could summon all my courage. But it looks like once I used all this strength to sit down, all of it went up in a puff of smoke. Nervously, I pulled out a tissue, handing it to Xiao Huaisu, doing my best to calm down, then say to him: "Huaisu-ge."

And Li You looked at me, with a smile ever so sweet, causing me to feel just a tad better about being tossed under the bus. But more importantly, was the fact that I could not stay here any longer. If I kept lingering around here everyone might end up suspecting me to be a kidnapper—it was just so awkward.

"How old are you, sweetheart?" Xiao Huaisu, despite being cold to me, when he asked this to Li You, had reminded me of the warm and friendly Huaisu-ge from all those years back who had painstakingly, and patiently, given me lesson in English and Math.

Qiao Damai pulled out his phone, swiping the screen twice, unlocking it. But unable to deal with the sweat dripping from his forehead, he handed the device to me with a face completely flushed, "They even took a video!"

I had no clue what he was talking about, so I asked: "What post?"

Who the hell are these people around me, huh??? Who the hell was fighting with you? Why would you defame me right in front of my Prince Charming??

And perhaps the atmosphere had gotten a bit too good because I had also gleefully followed suit and told Xiao Huaisu bye-bye too.

While Li You, using her three-year old brain, analyzed the situation for me: "Maybe he's not happy that you said he looked like a woman and that he looked like my mother."

I had no clue what he was talking about, so I asked: "What post?"

"Some people just look young for their age, maybe that guy is already over thirty," another professor chimed in.

Xiao Huaisu put down his chopsticks, unperturbed as he looked at me, while I continued, "Do I owe you money?"

"The one where two male student were fighting in the cafeteria over chasing Xiao Huaisu!"

Was it something amazing?!

However, to myself, I innocently thought: It must be when I burrowed money from your father and didn't pay him back. That's probably why our little friendship boat overturned.

I had no clue what he was talking about, so I asked: "What post?"

The flames of gossip were kindled within me, so completely forgetting the main character of the event was right in front of us, I excitedly demanded to Qiao Damai: "Hurry, hurry up! I wanna see it, where is it?"

And perhaps the atmosphere had gotten a bit too good because I had also gleefully followed suit and told Xiao Huaisu bye-bye too.

Qiao Damai pulled out his phone, swiping the screen twice, unlocking it. But unable to deal with the sweat dripping from his forehead, he handed the device to me with a face completely flushed, "They even took a video!"

I was planning to go grab Li You, but right at that moment, Xiao Huaisu's gaze fell on me. I was not wearing any glasses today, and I had gotten a haircut a couple days ago because I thought... I had thought Xiao Huaisu couldn't recognise me any longer...

Xiao Huaisu put down his chopsticks, unperturbed as he looked at me, while I continued, "Do I owe you money?"

While Li You, using her three-year old brain, analyzed the situation for me: "Maybe he's not happy that you said he looked like a woman and that he looked like my mother."

Who the hell are these people around me, huh??? Who the hell was fighting with you? Why would you defame me right in front of my Prince Charming??

Xiao Huaisu shot me a penetrating stare, not a word leaving his lips before he turned then left.

"You're not allowed to like Xiao Huaisoo!" The sound and video quality of the video weren't that great, but it created the exact kind of situation that'll make it harder to discern whether the video was real or fake.

The chopsticks in Xiao Huaisu's hand stopped, his eyes lifting to land on the embarrassed me.A childish look emerged on Li

And Li You looked at me, with a smile ever so sweet, causing me to feel just a tad better about being tossed under the bus. But more importantly, was the fact that I could not stay here any longer. If I kept lingering around here everyone might end up suspecting me to be a kidnapper—it was just so awkward.

From next to me, Qiao Damai then said: "Right now we're trending, and everyone was quick to figure out that the one in black was called Qiao Damai, and that the one in the white tee was Li Tian. Saying they both like Xiao Huaisu, and because of him, the two of them are fighting!"

It's said that if you say the flames of familial love will be extinguished, they will be extinguished. For two hours I decided to sever my father-daughter ties with Li You, and those two hours she was never to allow me to claim her mine.

Unable to sit still now, I tried to fix it, saying: "Qiao Damai, why are you getting yourself all worked up? All you have to do is make a follow up post explaining that Xiao Huaisu was actually a girl named Xiao Huaisoo and not Professor Xiao. It'll all be fine as long as you explain it."

My intuition told he actually did recognise me, but it looked like he did not want to talk to me at all. Making me try really hard to recall whether I really had owed him money I never paid back.

As I scurried away with Li You, I caught wind of the ongoing conversation inside.

Both of us fell into despair. I worriedly looked at Qiao Damai, who was himself also worried. Stunned, Qiao Damai then chuckled: "Yeah, that's right! We were fighting over a girl named Xiao Huaisoo, not Xiao Huaisu!" followed by slapping his thigh at his fortune of successfully tossing my butt under the bus.

I stared at Qiao Damai with a face drained of life! I really, really wanted to smack him, but for the sake of my spicy Sichuan stewed fish, I endured.

Effortlessly holding up three fingers, Li You then replied: "Three and a half."
