There was no time for me to stop Qiao Damai from tarnishing my reputation in front of Xiao Huaisu, but I did manage to endure the urge to kill him welling in my heart and stealthily sneak a peek at Xiao Huaisu.

As he stared at me, a bit of nervousness overtook me. But with that the frown was added, a fit of tremors shook me as I yet again recalled that night of ours where love was in the air, mingled with the taste of pain.

It was still raining, so I hurriedly ran over. But as I was running, I shook my head to deny his suggestion, since I was actually a good student.

The day in question was a beautiful day. I felt it was a good day to go clear my name. Thus, valiantly, and in high spirits, I made my way to go see Xiao Huaisu. But how could I have known, that halfway there, the skies would start pouring. I even picked out something especially handsome to wear, but in an instant I was left soaked to the bone. And as luck would have it, the moment I decided to turn back and return home, I would of course run right into the man in question, who held an umbrella in hand, as he neared me bit by bit. In this misty October rain, the pine trees outlining the distance looked like mountains in the backdrop, and with his form being integrated into this seemingly cyan-colored portrait, together with his black umbrella and his white shirt, the scene was indescribably eye-catching. If it were not for the slight frown etched onto his face after he saw me, it would had made for an even more beautiful sight to behold.

Upon hearing what was said, Xiao Huaisu simply revealed a faint smile while nodding lightly. The smile itself seeming to say "Hm, how nice..." as he then moved to pick up his bowl before dropping the sentence: "After all these years, it looks as though you're still the same, Li Tian..." Rising to his feet, and without missing a beat, he turned around and left. 'Did the words he just said to me sound like they were a bit disappointed? Well, as one of the men involved in this sex-scandal, he was definitely the most calm and confident of the three of us. I guess it must be because he has a lot more experience in these sort of love matters.

But, without thinking, I corrected: "I don't stay at the school's dorms..."

But what the heck did he mean when he said I was still the same! There is a huge difference between the now me and the me of back then—huge!

Anyway, hearing Qiao Damai say all this made me think that what he said was rather serious, but I still tactfully added: "Fine. But when you explain it all, just say you liked a girl with the same name as Professor Xiao and say I fought with you. After all, I already chose the spicy Sichuan fish stew and would very much like to remain loyal to it, the matter with Xiao Huaisoo is in the past, and I don't want to get mixed up in your complicated love life." Putting us both on the same page.

I don't wear piercings anymore, my hair is its natural black, and I dress like a respectable young man; so with all this in mind, that statement of his just comes off as strange.

Xiao Huaisu then turned to face me, his tone light as he asked: "Why didn't you just stay in class, why did you run out in the rain?"

"But it's still raining out outside."

"But what Professor Xiao was talking about wasn't your outward appearance though. So he's not really all that wrong in saying you're still the same."

From a cabinet, he took out a blow-dryer and placed it on the coffee table in the living room, then said to me: "I'm going to go wash up."

Xiao Huaisu then stopped, his head tilting to the side as he watched me carefully. But even when those brows of his are crinkled, I still can't help but feel as though his brows are more beautiful than anyone else's. And whenever I laid eyes on him, I just get so stupidly nervous that even though the situation right now was as it was, as always, I couldn't help myself from making the first move, as I now waved at him and said: "Hi... what a coincidence."

Anyway, Qiao Damai, who was shell-shocked by this sudden and unforeseen event, then asked me curiously: "Li Tian, do you and Xiao Huaisu know each other?"

Since Xiao Huaisu was gone, I decided to talk everything over with Qiao Damai: "Damai, how about we just don't clear this whole thing up, huh? As a couple of young fellas, it's natural to have one or two scandals, right?"

I chose to not give him an answer, and instead asked him: "Qiao Damai, I showed you some old photos of me before, right? So am I the same now as I was in those pictures?"

Fortunately, this heart of mine is made out of diamond, so it's not that easy to break. But I did want to object and say that I did not go out and make another person's belly swell, as the only stomach I went out and swole was my own—thank you very much!

That guy gave me a once over, his gaze fixing on my face right before he asked: "Haven't you always looked like this?"

Xiao Huaisu then stopped, his head tilting to the side as he watched me carefully. Xiao Huaisu allowed Li You to hold onto his clothes, and gracefully continued chatting with the other person. "Your daughter is quite cute as well." Wait, he didn't deny he was Li You's father! But then... what identity am I going use when I talk with the parents.

There was no time for me to stop Qiao Damai from tarnishing my reputation in front of Xiao Huaisu, but I did manage to endure the urge to kill him welling in my heart and stealthily sneak a peek at Xiao Huaisu.

Disdain covered my face as I stared at Qiao Damai then said: "My looks have always been like this. But what I'm asking about is my outward appearance, as in how I'm perceived, like, is their an elevation in the quality between the me then and now!"

Afterwards, I still thought back to the disappointment in Xiao Huaisu's eyes that day he spoke to me bluntly. I was considering going to him to explain that I was innocent with regard to the thing with Xiao Huaisoo; that I never pursued her and it was all just a misunderstanding. But I would obviously omit the part where I mistook the Xiao Huaisoo Qiao Damai liked for him. I'm not that that thick-skinned, you know! How could I even begin to tell him something like that.

Anyway, hearing Qiao Damai say all this made me think that what he said was rather serious, but I still tactfully added: "Fine. Anyway, Qiao Damai, who was shell-shocked by this sudden and unforeseen event, then asked me curiously: "Li Tian, do you and Xiao Huaisu know each other?"

Luckily, the umbrella was big enough for both of us, but because there was water on my body, I did not dare lean too close, fearing I might also get him wet too.

"But what Professor Xiao was talking about wasn't your outward appearance though. So he's not really all that wrong in saying you're still the same."

It was still raining, so I hurriedly ran over. But as I was running, I shook my head to deny his suggestion, since I was actually a good student.

When I was done with changing, I entered Li You's class and saw that the meeting had not started as yet. Two teachers seemed to still be testing out the projector, and the parents in the class were grouped off in pairs of twos and threes, taking advantage of this free time to chat amongst themselves. Xiao Huaisu was sitting beside a two pigtail wearing Li You, while another parent sat opposite him smiling as she said to him: "Youyou's dad, my little Liuliu really enjoys playing with Youyou, she even talks about it everyday after she comes back home from school." After glancing at Xiao Huaisu's face as well as Li You's a few times, she then added, "You and your daughter look so much alike. Last time when the class put on a play you didn't come so you may not be aware, but Youyou's performance was especially brilliant. It would have been great if I had a daughter as clever and as smart as Youyou." After she said those words, she couldn't resist the urge of wanting to rub Li You's head, but Li You, pretending to be shy, grabbed Xiao Huaisu's jacket and hid behind him.

To which I stammered in response: "W-when I came outside... t-the weather was good... H-how could I have known it would just start raining out of nowhere? Maybe god was just jealous of how good I looked today."

Did I think it was just as Qiao Damai said? Unable to stop myself from nodding along in agreement, I then concurred: "That is true."

Anyway, Qiao Damai, who was shell-shocked by this sudden and unforeseen event, then asked me curiously: "Li Tian, do you and Xiao Huaisu know each other?"

When I was done blow drying my hair and finished drinking me tea, after a few minutes passed, Xiao Huaisu had come back out wearing a matching set of grey and black 'home clothes', while drying his hair. To show my gratitude towards him, I took the still warm blow-dryer, handing it to him, imploring him politely: "Please blow dry your hair quickly, it would be bad if you caught a cold." When I handed it over to him, i couldn't stop myself from thinking: I'm so virtuous, don't you think?

Since Xiao Huaisu was gone, I decided to talk everything over with Qiao Damai: "Damai, how about we just don't clear this whole thing up, huh? As a couple of young fellas, it's natural to have one or two scandals, right?"

"Crap!" Pulling the blanket off me, then jumping off the sofa, I scrambled towards the entrance to find my shoes.

Recalling that a decent person must know how to properly conduct themselves in a delicate situation, and that is was wrong to give another person trouble; I pointed to the eave of the building where it gave protection from the rain then said: "Thank you. I'll just wait there until the rain stops."

"Li You has a parent-teacher conference this afternoon! And I promised her I would go!"

Qiao Damai thought it over seriously, then refused. "No. We're from this town, and A-University is chock full of our acquaintances. Plus, news in this place spreads like wildfire, so if this thing isn't cleared up, my mom and dad will both kill me and drag my аss back home..." Qiao Damai made a slicing gesture at his own throat after he spoke. "The situation behind this scandal is also no good. If it spreads, we'll fall out of favour with the ladies—after all, male-female relationships are more mainstream in society. And what about how public opinions would affect us? More than that, you know my mom would probably throw flowers and down a drink in celebration that I'm finally away from 'scum' like you when she catches wind about our supposed falling out, right? Since you are the 'single father who had put a baby in someone's belly as a teen and is now raising that child on his own'."

And as I stood there in the doorway, looking on at the joy-filled laughter and harmonious scene before me, a feeling of abandonment rose within me... Liuliu's mother clearly saw me drop Li You off before, so how could she аssume Xiao Huaisu to be Li You's dad so darn easily...

The parent-teacher conference started at three in the afternoon, but after we bought my shoes there was another delay on the way to the kindergarten so when we arrived it was exactly on time. After I signed in, I rushed off to the toilet, telling Xiao Huaisu which class Li You was in right as I charged into the bathroom.

He poured the hot water into a cup, then carefully put a few pieces of those ginger slices in before handing it to me. After that, he walked out of the kitchen, while I followed behind him, the cup held carefully in my hands.

With both of us now working together, the issue on the school forum was finally settled, but some of our our classmates would of course still tease us about it from time to time.

Slowly makin my way over there, I caught sight of him boiling water and slicing some ginger into strips on the cutting board. His brows proceeded to raise as he stared at me, while I innocently looked at him in return—it really was innocent, I swear! Anyway, his tone became colder and more harsh, almost sounding as if he were impatient. "Come with me to get yourself a change of clothes."

There was no time for me to stop Qiao Damai from tarnishing my reputation in front of Xiao Huaisu, but I did manage to endure the urge to kill him welling in my heart and stealthily sneak a peek at Xiao Huaisu.

The chill returned to his tone as the then said: "I'll take you back to your dormitory."

Plus, if I still planned on pursuing him, I have to clear up Qiao Damai's mess. Otherwise, how can I go after him later? He might end up getting the idea that I'm some sort of fickle person who easily falls in love one minute I like a woman, then the next minute I start chasing after a man... I'll for sure give off that kind of impression and I'll be put on his dating blacklist! Even if it could be chalked up as the fleeting feeling of youth, acting like this is a problem. Even is the one acting like this was your close friend, you'd know they were someone that should be added to the blacklist.

But I, who was well aware of her temperament, knew she was not shy at all, and that this was just another demonstration of her not liking to be touched by others.

He left for the bedroom. "My shoes are too big for you, so I'll go get changed then take you there, and we'll buy you some on the way."

Hearing Xiao Huaisu praise her child, the other person covered their mouth and laughed, waving him off politely as she added: "Which part of her is cute? She's a very naughty child."

If this current experience of mine should tell all of you something, it would be that before you decide to leave your house, checking the weather forecast before hand is something you must not ignore. Otherwise, that handsome appearance of yours might just end up being washed away in a matter of seconds, and such and event may also occur right before the eyes of your most beloved someone of all people.

I chose to not give him an answer, and instead asked him: "Qiao Damai, I showed you some old photos of me before, right? So am I the same now as I was in those pictures?"

Causing him to look at me before he calmly stated: "I live here."

He poured the hot water into a cup, then carefully put a few pieces of those ginger slices in before handing it to me. After that, he walked out of the kitchen, while I followed behind him, the cup held carefully in my hands.

And due to my own shock, coupled with his imposing manner, I did not utter another word of nonsense, proceeding to drop my gaze as I earnestly followed behind him to his place. Within my chest, my nervousness began to well up yet again, however this time, it was not the kind beckoned out of fear, but the kind that blossomed due to affection.

To question, I waved him off and replied: "It's alright. She also has her grandma and grandpa to look out for her too."

It was still raining, so I hurriedly ran over. But as I was running, I shook my head to deny his suggestion, since I was actually a good student.

Luckily, the umbrella was big enough for both of us, but because there was water on my body, I did not dare lean too close, fearing I might also get him wet too.

After I washed up in his bathroom, I changed into some of Xiao Huaisu's clothing. But after I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, seeing my hideously and regretful appearance, I wondered: Why the heck didn't I just haul-аss and run away when I saw him, instead of following after him like a damn idiot? Ugh... the way I look right now will definitely be burned into his memories from now on...

Looking like he didn't know what to think of it, the corners of his lips then curved upwards ever so slightly, as he slowly nodded and said: "Yes, you were quite handsome." But how could that compliment be sincere? No one on earth would think that compliment was sincere! He was definitely thinking about how I looked like a drowned rat! Which made me feel a bit aggrieved, and could only stare at him with widened eyes.

But, without thinking, I corrected: "I don't stay at the school's dorms..."

Since Xiao Huaisu was gone, I decided to talk everything over with Qiao Damai: "Damai, how about we just don't clear this whole thing up, huh? As a couple of young fellas, it's natural to have one or two scandals, right?"

Li Tian reminds me of Ui's character, Bo-tong, in the kdrama Bel Ami sometimes. The boy got it bad. []Well, I accidentally published this when I was updating the links on the other chapters so enjoy. I hate Wordpress' new block crap so very much.

It was still raining, so I hurriedly ran over. But as I was running, I shook my head to deny his suggestion, since I was actually a good student.

"But what Professor Xiao was talking about wasn't your outward appearance though. So he's not really all that wrong in saying you're still the same."

I was embarrassed. Since I ran into Xiao Huaisu, it made my brain get all tangled up in knots, so much so, it completely escaped me that he was a professor here.

After making an "Oh" sound, he said nothing more, while I silently followed after him. Turning left, then turning right, soon a building gradually came into my view, it was actually the teacher's apartment building? In confusion, I unconsciously blurted out: "I don't live here."

To question, I waved him off and replied: "It's alright. She also has her grandma and grandpa to look out for her too."

"But it's still raining out outside."

It was too late for me to run back home and grab another change of clothes, and there was no way I could go to the conference butt-naked, right? My eyes fell on Xiao Huaisu's shoes a few times, while looking at him all muddled.

Recalling that a decent person must know how to properly conduct themselves in a delicate situation, and that is was wrong to give another person trouble; I pointed to the eave of the building where it gave protection from the rain then said: "Thank you. I'll just wait there until the rain stops."

Did I think it was just as Qiao Damai said? Unable to stop myself from nodding along in agreement, I then concurred: "That is true."

Causing him to look at me before he calmly stated: "I live here."

Hearing the commotion, Xiao Huaisu came out from his study, leaning with his hand on the wall, asking: "What's wrong?"

His brows proceeded to raise as he stared at me, while I innocently looked at him in return—it really was innocent, I swear! Anyway, his tone became colder and more harsh, almost sounding as if he were impatient. "Come with me to get yourself a change of clothes."

That guy gave me a once over, his gaze fixing on my face right before he asked: "Haven't you always looked like this?"

I was embarrassed. Since I ran into Xiao Huaisu, it made my brain get all tangled up in knots, so much so, it completely escaped me that he was a professor here.

This "drowned" look of mine really hit me so darn hard that it obliterated my urge to prove my innocence.

Hearing the commotion, Xiao Huaisu came out from his study, leaning with his hand on the wall, asking: "What's wrong?"

Hearing the commotion, Xiao Huaisu came out from his study, leaning with his hand on the wall, asking: "What's wrong?"

"You're already a father, yet you still haven't thought about what would happen to your daughter if you get yourself sick?"

Did I think it was just as Qiao Damai said? Unable to stop myself from nodding along in agreement, I then concurred: "That is true."

To question, I waved him off and replied: "It's alright. She also has her grandma and grandpa to look out for her too."

Hearing Xiao Huaisu praise her child, the other person covered their mouth and laughed, waving him off politely as she added: "Which part of her is cute? She's a very naughty child."

"But it's still raining out outside."

But, without thinking, I corrected: "I don't stay at the school's dorms..."

To which I stammered in response: "W-when I came outside... t-the weather was good... H-how could I have known it would just start raining out of nowhere? Maybe god was just jealous of how good I looked today."

Therefore, explaining this matter was a must, in order to fight for my innocence.

He actually invited me to go to his place! Will he invite me for noodles too? Hehehe.

He left for the bedroom. "My shoes are too big for you, so I'll go get changed then take you there, and we'll buy you some on the way."

"Crap!" Pulling the blanket off me, then jumping off the sofa, I scrambled towards the entrance to find my shoes.

Fortunately, this heart of mine is made out of diamond, so it's not that easy to break. But I did want to object and say that I did not go out and make another person's belly swell, as the only stomach I went out and swole was my own—thank you very much!

I don't wear piercings anymore, my hair is its natural black, and I dress like a respectable young man; so with all this in mind, that statement of his just comes off as strange.

Causing him to look at me before he calmly stated: "I live here."

This "drowned" look of mine really hit me so darn hard that it obliterated my urge to prove my innocence.

Xiao Huaisu took the hair dryer and returned to the washroom to dry his hair. I was sitting cross-legged on the sofa, in the clothes that were a little too big, flipping through a nearby magazine I had picked up. It was a finance and economics magazine, so after flipping through a few pages I became so bored that my vision started to get blurry, closing not that long after as I leant back on the sofa; my intention simply being to rest myself for no more than a few minutes. But, later, when I awoke, a thin blanket was covering me, and while I rubbed my eyes, my gaze swept over to the clock hanging on the wall, sparking the memory of something important I had to do, the thought making unable to stop myself from screaming out.

Making my way into the living room, I did not see any sign of Xiao Huaisu, but I did hear a noise coming from the kitchen. Slowly makin my way over there, I caught sight of him boiling water and slicing some ginger into strips on the cutting board. And because I was feeling a bit shy, while drying my still wet hair, I said: "Thank you."

He left for the bedroom. "My shoes are too big for you, so I'll go get changed then take you there, and we'll buy you some on the way."

It was still raining, so I hurriedly ran over. But as I was running, I shook my head to deny his suggestion, since I was actually a good student.

Xiao Huaisu then turned to face me, his tone light as he asked: "Why didn't you just stay in class, why did you run out in the rain?"

After making an "Oh" sound, he said nothing more, while I silently followed after him. Turning left, then turning right, soon a building gradually came into my view, it was actually the teacher's apartment building? In confusion, I unconsciously blurted out: "I don't live here."

Anyway, Qiao Damai, who was shell-shocked by this sudden and unforeseen event, then asked me curiously: "Li Tian, do you and Xiao Huaisu know each other?"

Xiao Huaisu then turned to face me, his tone light as he asked: "Why didn't you just stay in class, why did you run out in the rain?"

To which I stammered in response: "W-when I came outside... t-the weather was good... H-how could I have known it would just start raining out of nowhere? Maybe god was just jealous of how good I looked today."

Disdain covered my face as I stared at Qiao Damai then said: "My looks have always been like this. But what I'm asking about is my outward appearance, as in how I'm perceived, like, is their an elevation in the quality between the me then and now!"

Luckily, the umbrella was big enough for both of us, but because there was water on my body, I did not dare lean too close, fearing I might also get him wet too.

He poured the hot water into a cup, then carefully put a few pieces of those ginger slices in before handing it to me. After that, he walked out of the kitchen, while I followed behind him, the cup held carefully in my hands.

But what the heck did he mean when he said I was still the same! There is a huge difference between the now me and the me of back then—huge!

To which I stammered in response: "W-when I came outside... t-the weather was good... H-how could I have known it would just start raining out of nowhere? Maybe god was just jealous of how good I looked today."

But I, who was well aware of her temperament, knew she was not shy at all, and that this was just another demonstration of her not liking to be touched by others.

From a cabinet, he took out a blow-dryer and placed it on the coffee table in the living room, then said to me: "I'm going to go wash up."

Wearing only a pair of slippers on my feet, I stood in entryway, fishing my phone out my pocket to check the time. Apart from saying yes, what reason could I give to refuse, thus I could only acceptingly say: "Okay!"

When I was done blow drying my hair and finished drinking me tea, after a few minutes passed, Xiao Huaisu had come back out wearing a matching set of grey and black 'home clothes', while drying his hair.

With both of us now working together, the issue on the school forum was finally settled, but some of our our classmates would of course still tease us about it from time to time.

Hearing the commotion, Xiao Huaisu came out from his study, leaning with his hand on the wall, asking: "What's wrong?"

"Li You has a parent-teacher conference this afternoon! And I promised her I would go!"

"But what Professor Xiao was talking about wasn't your outward appearance though. So he's not really all that wrong in saying you're still the same."

And due to my own shock, coupled with his imposing manner, I did not utter another word of nonsense, proceeding to drop my gaze as I earnestly followed behind him to his place. "But it's still raining out outside."

"Where are my shoes?" I asked Xiao Huaisu worriedly, with him replying, "They're still soaking wet, and your clothes aren't dried yet either."

But, without thinking, I corrected: "I don't stay at the school's dorms..."

He poured the hot water into a cup, then carefully put a few pieces of those ginger slices in before handing it to me. After that, he walked out of the kitchen, while I followed behind him, the cup held carefully in my hands.

He left for the bedroom. "My shoes are too big for you, so I'll go get changed then take you there, and we'll buy you some on the way."

Wearing only a pair of slippers on my feet, I stood in entryway, fishing my phone out my pocket to check the time. Apart from saying yes, what reason could I give to refuse, thus I could only acceptingly say: "Okay!"

There was no time for me to stop Qiao Damai from tarnishing my reputation in front of Xiao Huaisu, but I did manage to endure the urge to kill him welling in my heart and stealthily sneak a peek at Xiao Huaisu.

Recalling that a decent person must know how to properly conduct themselves in a delicate situation, and that is was wrong to give another person trouble; I pointed to the eave of the building where it gave protection from the rain then said: "Thank you. I'll just wait there until the rain stops."

To which he responded in a gentle tone: "Aren't you coming over? Or are you planning on getting yourself sick in order to ask for leave to skip your classes?"

Xiao Huaisu allowed Li You to hold onto his clothes, and gracefully continued chatting with the other person. "Your daughter is quite cute as well." Wait, he didn't deny he was Li You's father! But then... what identity am I going use when I talk with the parents.

And due to my own shock, coupled with his imposing manner, I did not utter another word of nonsense, proceeding to drop my gaze as I earnestly followed behind him to his place. After I signed in, I rushed off to the toilet, telling Xiao Huaisu which class Li You was in right as I charged into the bathroom.

Why do I get the feeling I was thrown away?

To which I stammered in response: "W-when I came outside... t-the weather was good... H-how could I have known it would just start raining out of nowhere? Maybe god was just jealous of how good I looked today."

Li Tian reminds me of Ui's character, Bo-tong, in the kdrama Bel Ami sometimes. The boy got it bad. []Well, I accidentally published this when I was updating the links on the other chapters so enjoy. I hate Wordpress' new block crap so very much.
