Third Update

What's it like being friends with a goddess?

Lu Xiaobei and Mo Yichen finished their beer and while eating peanuts, but Xiaoya still had some beer left in their can. Seeing her try to finish it sip by sip, impatient, Lu Xiaobei downed the rest on her behalf.

XiangYi kicked off her shoes, moving to sit cross legged on the bed, before hugging Mo Yichen by the waist, saying, "Clever people can see through it, but those unenlightened who don't know anything won't get it unless it's said to them clearly."

After Xiaoya and her parents both gave each other best wishes, she then asked her mother, "Mom, did you guys go over to your mom's house or dad's mom's house to celebrate the Spring Festival?"

Today, when I went to the student council to apply for my student ID, I saw the student council president!!!! It was the first time I ever saw her, you know!!! And when she asked me for my name, I... I totally forgot it [cries] All I could remember where those eyes of hers just being so freaking breathtaking (omitting the one thousand words to describe the goddess' beauty right here)

Xiang Yi: "Captain, you'd even go this far? Now you'll even take care of Xiaoya's drinks."

Yu Xiaoya's reply:

Xiaoya then said: "Captain, the only one left is you."

Haha... Everyone's guesses were all really imaginative, but nobody guessed it right. So I'm just going to tell you guys straight away, the gift was... Dabao!

From ever since he had taken them up the mountain, Mr. Qi, after being chewed out by Miss Xu, did not dare provoke the tiger by lifting it's whiskers once more, and thus spent all the days following that incident, obediently supervising his students in that small building.

My goddess gave me the knowledge of skin care, as well as explaining the concept of Pareto's Law[1], where input and output are often unbalanced. From what I understood, just applying a skin cream would take care of 80% of my skin care routine!

Mo Yichen divided the sparklers into four, then asked, "Are we going to hang out on the balcony?"

My goddess even said that my rounded up understanding of the concept wasn't too shabby either. ~(≧▽≦)/~

Hahaha! If I posted right now on that forum that I was roommates with the goddess and was currently playing around on her phone, there'd probably be a crap-ton of people complaining and even trying to come through the network cables to find me.

Poster A:

"Jeez, Xiaoya, you're such a fangirl." Xiang Yi, unable to stand it any longer, chided.

Anyways... a little while ago I was scrolling through the school's forum and picked out some of the other comments from people curious about our goddess to see how she appears in their eyes and share them with you.

Before XiangYi could finish, Lu Xiaobei interrupted: "Xiang Yi."

"I never make wishes."

Shocked at the sight, Xiaoya asked them: "I thought you guys said you were already stuffed from dinner earlier, so what did you call us over here to eat. Plus, where did those even come from?"

Xiaoya didn't persist in trying to finish it, drinking only half before replying earnestly, "I hope to get into the honours class after the second year exams; I hope I can get along well with everyone; and I hope we can all meet up again like this again next year."

Xiaoya: "But we don't have any lighters! Should we go borrow one?"

Poster A:

After Xiaoya and her parents both gave each other best wishes, she then asked her mother, "Mom, did you guys go over to your mom's house or dad's mom's house to celebrate the Spring Festival?"

Xiaoya then added happily, "This is already more than enough. It's a lot more than I thought there would be."

Under the night sky, a sparkler drew out a circle, it then drew a heart, and again drew out Lu Xiaobei's name.

Lu Xiaobei stared fixedly at Xiaoya, a long time passing without her saying a word.

Shocked at the sight, Xiaoya asked them: "I thought you guys said you were already stuffed from dinner earlier, so what did you call us over here to eat. Plus, where did those even come from?"

After Xiaoya and her parents both gave each other best wishes, she then asked her mother, "Mom, did you guys go over to your mom's house or dad's mom's house to celebrate the Spring Festival?"

No matter how much they begged, the most they could coax from him was the added sentenced: "And if Miss Xu disagrees, you guys must absolutely, in no way, go off to do it in secret."

Causing Lu Xiaobei to ask her, "Have you never drank before?"

Poster B:

With Xiaoya then asking, "Didn't you say they weren't allowed? Did Miss Xu give them permission?"

From ever since he had taken them up the mountain, Mr. Qi, after being chewed out by Miss Xu, did not dare provoke the tiger by lifting it's whiskers once more, and thus spent all the days following that incident, obediently supervising his students in that small building.

Xiaoya didn't have any idea what she was talking about, but the other girl then changed the topic, now sayingtoXiaoya, "Xiaoya, Yichen toasted with the Captain, so now I'll toast with you."

Keeping it hidden is much better. You guys don't get how good the goddess s, at all. She may look unapproachable on the outside, but she's really super gentle and kind.

Anyways... a little while ago I was scrolling through the school's forum and picked out some of the other comments from people curious about our goddess to see how she appears in their eyes and share them with you.

"Gao Heng and Mr. Qi went to the town centre to buy them." Lu Xiaobei was the one to answer.

Xiaoya's mother hesitated for a while, then replied, "We... we went over to my mother's house."

As a schoolmate of our goddess, you guys definitely know who I'm talking about here, the thing that gives me the utmost of pleasure is recording the daily life of our goddess. So today during the music class on the first floor of building no. 2, there was a little orange at lingering around outside the window during break. A lot of the girls had opened the window and tried every which way and how to coax the little thing to come inside, but all their efforts had failed. Then the goddess entered the classroom, and with just one look at that orange kitten, the indifferent little thing nimbly jumped into the classroom, then laid itself at the goddess' feet and meowed. I know, right? This world truly does operate on looks [cries]. Afterwards, the goddess even picked up the little orange cat, holding it in her arms while scratching its chin! I swear, when they saw this, half the class stared at that little kitten with green in their eyes, and most of them seemed like they wanted to swap places with it!

After the sparkler burnt out, only bits of ash had remained. It's beauty only lasting for a short duration of time, yet its splendour would stay imprinted in one's memory.

Poster C:

Xiaoya, wanting to return Xiang Yi's gesture, also lifted her hand to drink her beer till the last drop, but Lu Xiaobei stopped her, saying, "You only have one can, so if you drink it all there'll be no more."

Does anyone have the school forum, QQ, WeChat or Weibo contact of Year 3 Class X's goddess? Or any photos of her not in a group? I'm on my knees here, begging, anybody to just send them to me via private message. And if they turn out to be legit, you'll be rewarded handsomely! I'll also accept the goddess' homework or test papers too!

Xiaoya didn't have any idea what she was talking about, but the other girl then changed the topic, now sayingtoXiaoya, "Xiaoya, Yichen toasted with the Captain, so now I'll toast with you."

Xiaoya: "We're just watching the Spring Festival Gala."

Pareto's Law s named after an Italian Economist who came up with the 80:20 principle. He believed stuff like 80% of a country's wealth was held in 20% of the country's population. And his principle can be used to say stuff like 20% of efforts can result in 80% of gains, yadda yadda yadda...[] I'm going to list the class types in order from highest to lowest. 竞赛班: lit. competition class, are like AP classes and the top level classes in the school. Below them are 重点班: lit. key classes, are like honours classes, with a less rigorous class contents than the aforementioned. Lastly there is 平行班: lit. parallel classes, which can be considered are regular classes with students who have mid to low grades, and this is the class grouping Xiaoya is currently in (and we know where her grades stand👞).[]anasi: Damn, Captain, god damn (^///^)

What's it like being friends with a goddess?

Just then, a knock came from outside the door. Lu Xiaobbei went to open it, and afterwards returned, whispering to Xiaoya, "Xiang Yi and Yichen got some snacks, let's go hang out in their room."

With Xiaoya then asking, "Didn't you say they weren't allowed? Did Miss Xu give them permission?"

"Oh, no. I'm fine. I'm happy to just hold onto it."

Hahaha! If I posted right now on that forum that I was roommates with the goddess and was currently playing around on her phone, there'd probably be a crap-ton of people complaining and even trying to crawl through the network cables to find me.

Mo Yichen: "In case you have a sudden need to smoke, you mean, right?

Xiang Yi: "I'm just holding onto it in case there's a need comes up in the future."

"Oh, okay." Xiaoya didn't think anything of this, because her grandparents and their neighbours were also friends, and usually looked out for one another. So afterwards she added, "Don't let them play mahjong until it's too late, okay?"

Keeping it hidden is much better. You guys don't get how good the goddess s, at all. She may look unapproachable on the outside, but she's really super gentle and kind.

This made Mo Yichen smile towards Xiaoya, and in doing so had exposed a row of eight straight teeth, seeming as beautiful as they were warm, "In the next few months, Captain will be doing her college entrance exams; so to you, Captain, I'd also like wish for your success!"

In no time at all, the new year had almost arrived.

The sound of Xiaoya's father's voice then came from the receiver, "Happy New Year, Xiaoyu! And remember, a new year means you need to study hard, alright?"

Today, when I went to the student council to apply for my student ID, I saw the student council president!!!! It was the first time I ever saw her, you know!!! And when she asked me for my name, I... Her words making Mo Yichen say impolitely, "People who quit smoking don't keep carrying around a lighter with them."

"Do you know why I don't make wishes?" Lu Xiaobei, then continued, "It because if there's something I want, I will make it my goal, and do everything in my power to achieve it. Wishes require you to earnestly pray to god, but I don't believe in any god, I only believe in myself."

Third Update

"Yes, I know, dad. I also want to wish you good health, and that you'll keep climbing up the ranks at work."

But for Xiaoya, the expectation for this coming New Year's had a reason behind it that was much different than she had n the years prior. It had nothing to do with collecting red envelopes, nor was it due to her not having to do any papers. This year's reason for Xiaoya's anticipation, was all about the feast that would be made on the night of New Year's Eve.

In Xiaoya's high school, the best students were placed in the advanced placement (AP) classes, while most were in the honours class, and less were in the parallel (ordinary) classes. The students in these parallel classes were basically regarded as animals raring for their release. So if the she had the opportunity, Xiaoya would also like to take a shot at those exams.

This was because Lu Xiaobei had promised her, she could indulge herself just a bit as she pleased on the last night of the year.

Lu Xiaobei: "Has anyone ever told you, the actual foundation of your facial features are very good-looking?"

Yu Xiaoya's reply:

Lu Xiaobei: "You should."

After the two tapped their cans together, Xiang Yi, seeming like a drinking pro, downed all her beer in one go, then asked: "Xiaoya, what's your hopes for this new year?"

Xiaoya answered the call, happily replying, "Happy New Year, Mom. Is dad right next to you? Then wish him a Happy New Year from me too!"

Within the small town, the fireworks released the fireworks released weren't that grand, the bangs and pops of firecrackers, both large and small, rose and fell—sounded every now and again—before the night had even fell.

The screen of Lu Xiaobei's phone lit up, "We just got a tip-off, Miss Xu has gone to sleep."

Her words making Mo Yichen say impolitely, "People who quit smoking don't keep carrying around a lighter with them."

"Gao Heng and Mr. Qi went to the town centre to buy them." Lu Xiaobei was the one to answer.

The owner of the building also thought about doing so too, releasing two strings of firecrackers in front of the building's entrance. But even though the sounds were very annoying, the sound of them resonating in one's ears without end, however, to that cold and lonesome winter, they did add a bit of the flavour of the new year's celebrations.

"Only when my dad occasionally let me have some red wine. So I kinda thought beer would taste really good too," Xiaoya replied.

From ever since he had taken them up the mountain, Mr. Qi, after being chewed out by Miss Xu, did not dare provoke the tiger by lifting it's whiskers once more, and thus spent all the days following that incident, obediently supervising his students in that small building.

So when Gao Heng and the other asked him if they could buy fireworks, all Mr. Qi said to them was the one simple sentence: "Go ask Miss Xu."

"Do you want me to help you drink it?" Lu Xiaobei asked.

No matter how much they begged, the most they could coax from him was the added sentenced: "And if Miss Xu disagrees, you guys must absolutely, in no way, go off to do it in secret."

Xiaoya smacked the table, shouting: "Captain will come back with first place!"

Xiaoya: "We're just watching the Spring Festival Gala."

Keeping it hidden is much better. You guys don't get how good the goddess s, at all. She may look unapproachable on the outside, but she's really super gentle and kind.

Angry, Gao Heng cruelly spat, "Sir, you'll definitely become a pushover in the future."

When Xiaoya knocked on the door of the room next door, Mo Yichen and Xiang Yi were both sitting together on one bed chatting, while Lu Xiaobei was sitting alone on the one across from them shelling peanuts. The nightstand was placed between them, where on top of it were four cans of beer.

Before XiangYi could finish, Lu Xiaobei interrupted: "Xiang Yi."

Causing Lu Xiaobei to ask her, "Have you never drank before?"

There was nothing to do for entertainment in that town, so apart from the night's feast, a few students borrowed a few packs of playing cards from the building's owner, while the others stayed up to watch the Spring Festival Gala on the TV.

Lu Xiaobei ignored their bickering, picking up the lighter from the table before taking Xiaoya out to the balcony.

"Only when my dad occasionally let me have some red wine. So I kinda thought beer would taste really good too," Xiaoya replied.

Xiaoya's gaze fell on Mo Yichen, with he chiming in, "I feel the same way too!"

Not long after Xiaoya had made it back to her room, her family had given her a call. "Xiaoyu, happy new year!"

Covering the receiver, Xiaoya motioned to Lu Xiaobei she should go first, and after ending the call she would leave as well.

This year's reason for Xiaoya's anticipation, was all about the feast that would be made on the night of New Year's Eve.

Third Update

Haha... Everyone's guesses were all really imaginative, but nobody guessed it right. So I'm just going to tell you guys straight away, the gift was... Dabao!

Xiaoya: "We're just watching the Spring Festival Gala."

Mo Yihen tapped her finger against the ring on her own can, her face covered with a flush of light pink on account of the beer she had drunk so far, giving her a look more lovely than the blossoms of spring, as she then went on to say, "For the past year, I'm really happy I got to know you guys. Even though it's hasn't been that long since we've been together, every da we had so far made me feel really happy."

Xiaoya's mother laughed happily while she then said: "Dad already heard you sweetheart, and he wants to talk to you too."

Lu Xiaobei looked at Xiaoya dotingly, saying, "Somebody's all hyped up." Then moved to clink cans with Mo Yichen, adding, "Thank you."

Causing Lu Xiaobei to ask her, "Have you never drank before?"

Xiaoya: "But we don't have any lighters! Should we go borrow one?"

Lu Xiaobei and Mo Yichen finished their beer and while eating peanuts, but Xiaoya still had some beer left in their can. Seeing her try to finish it sip by sip, impatient, Lu Xiaobei downed the rest on her behalf.

Third Update

"Gao Heng and Mr. Qi went to the town centre to buy them." Lu Xiaobei was the one to answer.

After Xiaoya and her parents both gave each other best wishes, she then asked her mother, "Mom, did you guys go over to your mom's house or dad's mom's house to celebrate the Spring Festival?"

There was nothing to do for entertainment in that town, so apart from the night's feast, a few students borrowed a few packs of playing cards from the building's owner, while the others stayed up to watch the Spring Festival Gala on the TV.

"Yeah. It's too late now, and I don't really want to go outside." Lu Xiaobei replied.

With Xiaoya then asking, "Didn't you say they weren't allowed? Did Miss Xu give them permission?"

"She didn't allow it, but it was said for Miss Xu to hear, so don't let that slip tomorrow, okay? Everyone only got a can of beer and a pack of sparklers each, and there's no more to get." Xiang Yi was the one to respond this time.

Xiaoya: "Huh?"

Shocked at the sight, Xiaoya asked them: "I thought you guys said you were already stuffed from dinner earlier, so what did you call us over here to eat. Plus, where did those even come from?"

Under the night sky, a sparkler drew out a circle, it then drew a heart, and again drew out Lu Xiaobei's name.

"Jeez, Xiaoya, you're such a fangirl." Xiang Yi, unable to stand it any longer, chided.

Angry, Gao Heng cruelly spat, "Sir, you'll definitely become a pushover in the future."

Xiaoya smacked the table, shouting: "Captain will come back with first place!"

Xiaoya then added happily, "This is already more than enough. It's a lot more than I thought there would be."

My goddess even said that my rounded up understanding of the concept wasn't too shabby either. ~(≧▽≦)/~

Haha... Everyone's guesses were all really imaginative, but nobody guessed it right. So I'm just going to tell you guys straight away, the gift was... Dabao!

It had been many years since Xiaoya had played with sparklers, and while doing so she had an great amount of fun, "Captain, did I drawing of your name look nice?"

Lu Xiaobei stared fixedly at Xiaoya, a long time passing without her saying a word.

"I hope we can end up in the same class, and I also hope we get the chance to meet up again next year." Mo Yichen added.

Third Update

Lu Xiaobei pulled the ring on the can, opening it, then called for Xiaoya to sit beside her. The four girls now all lifting their cans, bumping them together, "Ganbei! (Cheers)"

"Oh, no. I'm fine. I'm happy to just hold onto it."

With Xiaoya then asking, "Didn't you say they weren't allowed? Did Miss Xu give them permission?"

After the two tapped their cans together, Xiang Yi, seeming like a drinking pro, downed all her beer in one go, then asked: "Xiaoya, what's your hopes for this new year?"

This was because Lu Xiaobei had promised her, she could indulge herself just a bit as she pleased on the last night of the year.

Afterwards, Xiaoya only drank a sip, before crinkling her brows together as she exclaimed, "Ah, it's so bitter."

So when Gao Heng and the other asked him if they could buy fireworks, all Mr. Qi said to them was the one simple sentence: "Go ask Miss Xu."

Causing Lu Xiaobei to ask her, "Have you never drank before?"

"Yes, I know, dad. I also want to wish you good health, and that you'll keep climbing up the ranks at work."

"Only when my dad occasionally let me have some red wine. So I kinda thought beer would taste really good too," Xiaoya replied.

"Yeah. It's too late now, and I don't really want to go outside." Lu Xiaobei replied.

Xiang then spoke, saying: "Compared to last year, this year I made four achievements. I got success in my studies, I got to eat great food, I got beer on the table in front of me, and I got someone with me in bed."

But for Xiaoya, the expectation for this coming New Year's had a reason behind it that was much different than she had n the years prior. Lu Xiaobei: "Yes, very nice."

Upon hearing this Xiaoya exclaimed: "Captain, you're so cool!"

"Do you want me to help you drink it?" Lu Xiaobei asked.

To which her mother replied: "I'm sorry, sweetheart, but Uncle and Aunty Qi who live upstairs have all their kids and grand kids living overseas, so after your grandma and grandpa ate, they went upstairs to keep them company by playing mahjong."

"Gao Heng and Mr. Qi went to the town centre to buy them." Lu Xiaobei was the one to answer.

Even though it's hasn't been that long since we've been together, every da we had so far made me feel really happy."

Not long after Xiaoya had made it back to her room, her family had given her a call. "Xiaoyu, happy new year!"

"Do you want me to help you drink it?" Lu Xiaobei asked.

With Xiaoya then asking, "Didn't you say they weren't allowed? Did Miss Xu give them permission?"

Xiaoya's gaze fell on Mo Yichen, with he chiming in, "I feel the same way too!"

Just then, a knock came from outside the door. Lu Xiaobbei went to open it, and afterwards returned, whispering to Xiaoya, "Xiang Yi and Yichen got some snacks, let's go hang out in their room."

Mo Yichen: "In case you have a sudden need to smoke, you mean, right?

But for Xiaoya, the expectation for this coming New Year's had a reason behind it that was much different than she had n the years prior. It had nothing to do with collecting red envelopes, nor was it due to her not having to do any papers. This year's reason for Xiaoya's anticipation, was all about the feast that would be made on the night of New Year's Eve.

This made Mo Yichen smile towards Xiaoya, and in doing so had exposed a row of eight straight teeth, seeming as beautiful as they were warm, "In the next few months, Captain will be doing her college entrance exams; so to you, Captain, I'd also like wish for your success!"

"Oh, okay." Xiaoya didn't think anything of this, because her grandparents and their neighbours were also friends, and usually looked out for one another. So afterwards she added, "Don't let them play mahjong until it's too late, okay?"

The sound of Xiaoya's father's voice then came from the receiver, "Happy New Year, Xiaoyu! And remember, a new year means you need to study hard, alright?"

Covering the receiver, Xiaoya motioned to Lu Xiaobei she should go first, and after ending the call she would leave as well.

Xiang Yi: "I'm just holding onto it in case there's a need comes up in the future."

My goddess gave me the knowledge of skin care, as well as explaining the concept of Pareto's Law, where input and output are often unbalanced. From what I understood, just applying a skin cream would take care of 80% of my skin care routine!

Lu Xiaobei: "Has anyone ever told you, the actual foundation of your facial features are very good-looking?"

Xiaoya smacked the table, shouting: "Captain will come back with first place!"

Xiaoya's gaze fell on Mo Yichen, with he chiming in, "I feel the same way too!"

In no time at all, the new year had almost arrived.

"Jeez, Xiaoya, you're such a fangirl." Xiang Yi, unable to stand it any longer, chided.

Angry, Gao Heng cruelly spat, "Sir, you'll definitely become a pushover in the future."

Lu Xiaobei looked at Xiaoya dotingly, saying, "Somebody's all hyped up." Then moved to clink cans with Mo Yichen, adding, "Thank you."

What's it like being friends with a goddess?

Mo Yichen divided the sparklers into four, then asked, "Are we going to hang out on the balcony?"

This made Mo Yichen smile towards Xiaoya, and in doing so had exposed a row of eight straight teeth, seeming as beautiful as they were warm, "In the next few months, Captain will be doing her college entrance exams; so to you, Captain, I'd also like wish for your success!"

Hahaha! If I posted right now on that forum that I was roommates with the goddess and was currently playing around on her phone, there'd probably be a crap-ton of people complaining and even trying to come through the network cables to find me.

This made Mo Yichen smile towards Xiaoya, and in doing so had exposed a row of eight straight teeth, seeming as beautiful as they were warm, "In the next few months, Captain will be doing her college entrance exams; so to you, Captain, I'd also like wish for your success!"

Before XiangYi could finish, Lu Xiaobei interrupted: "Xiang Yi."

In no time at all, the new year had almost arrived.

XiangYi kicked off her shoes, moving to sit cross legged on the bed, before hugging Mo Yichen by the waist, saying, "Clever people can see through it, but those unenlightened who don't know anything won't get it unless it's said to them clearly."

No matter how much they begged, the most they could coax from him was the added sentenced: "And if Miss Xu disagrees, you guys must absolutely, in no way, go off to do it in secret."

Under the night sky, a sparkler drew out a circle, it then drew a heart, and again drew out Lu Xiaobei's name.

The owner of the building also thought about doing so too, releasing two strings of firecrackers in front of the building's entrance. Xiaoya answered the call, happily replying, "Happy New Year, Mom. Is dad right next to you? Then wish him a Happy New Year from me too!"

Lu Xiaobei looked at Xiaoya dotingly, saying, "Somebody's all hyped up." Then moved to clink cans with Mo Yichen, adding, "Thank you."

Mo Yichen: "We don't need to, Xiang Yi smokes."

"Do you want me to help you drink it?" Lu Xiaobei asked.

Xiaoya didn't persist in trying to finish it, drinking only half before replying earnestly, "I hope to get into the honours class after the second year exams; I hope I can get along well with everyone; and I hope we can all meet up again like this again next year."

From ever since he had taken them up the mountain, Mr. Qi, after being chewed out by Miss Xu, did not dare provoke the tiger by lifting it's whiskers once more, and thus spent all the days following that incident, obediently supervising his students in that small building.

Xiaoya then added happily, "This is already more than enough. It's a lot more than I thought there would be."

Xiaoya: "Huh?"

The screen of Lu Xiaobei's phone lit up, "We just got a tip-off, Miss Xu has gone to sleep."

Her words making Mo Yichen say impolitely, "People who quit smoking don't keep carrying around a lighter with them."

Lu Xiaobei stared fixedly at Xiaoya, a long time passing without her saying a word.

"I hope we can end up in the same class, and I also hope we get the chance to meet up again next year." Mo Yichen added.

Keeping it hidden is much better. You guys don't get how good the goddess s, at all. She may look unapproachable on the outside, but she's really super gentle and kind.

Within the small town, the fireworks released the fireworks released weren't that grand, the bangs and pops of firecrackers, both large and small, rose and fell—sounded every now and again—before the night had even fell.

Xiang Yi: "I used to smoke, but I already quit!"

"I never make wishes."

Her words making Mo Yichen say impolitely, "People who quit smoking don't keep carrying around a lighter with them."

Under the dark skies, beside that burning spark, the brightness of that young girl's face was hard to conceive.

∽***∼

XiangYi kicked off her shoes, moving to sit cross legged on the bed, before hugging Mo Yichen by the waist, saying, "Clever people can see through it, but those unenlightened who don't know anything won't get it unless it's said to them clearly."

Keeping it hidden is much better. You guys don't get how good the goddess s, at all. She may look unapproachable on the outside, but she's really super gentle and kind.

"Oh, okay." Xiaoya didn't think anything of this, because her grandparents and their neighbours were also friends, and usually looked out for one another. So afterwards she added, "Don't let them play mahjong until it's too late, okay?"

Xiang Yi: "I'm just holding onto it in case there's a need comes up in the future."

Xiang Yi: "I'm just holding onto it in case there's a need comes up in the future."

Xiaoya's mother hesitated for a while, then replied, "We... we went over to my mother's house."

"No way!" Xiaoya then rolled her eyes, adding, "Well, that's not true, my dad actually said so before. There's no way I should believe him, right?"

Xiaoya's gaze fell on Mo Yichen, with he chiming in, "I feel the same way too!"

Mo Yichen: "In case you have a sudden need to smoke, you mean, right?

Xiaoya: "We're just watching the Spring Festival Gala."

"I know, sweetheart. Anyway, what are you guys up to over there right now?"

After the sparkler burnt out, only bits of ash had remained. It's beauty only lasting for a short duration of time, yet its splendour would stay imprinted in one's memory.

Lu Xiaobei ignored their bickering, picking up the lighter from the table before taking Xiaoya out to the balcony.

Third Update

Under the night sky, a sparkler drew out a circle, it then drew a heart, and again drew out Lu Xiaobei's name.

Lu Xiaobei: "You should."

There was nothing to do for entertainment in that town, so apart from the night's feast, a few students borrowed a few packs of playing cards from the building's owner, while the others stayed up to watch the Spring Festival Gala on the TV.

Lu Xiaobei: "Yes, very nice."

Lu Xiaobei: "Yes, very nice."

Anyways... a little while ago I was scrolling through the school's forum and picked out some of the other comments from people curious about our goddess to see how she appears in their eyes and share them with you.

Yu Xiaoya's reply:

Lu Xiaobei: "You should."

It had been many years since Xiaoya had played with sparklers, and while doing so she had an great amount of fun, "Captain, did I drawing of your name look nice?"

Poster A:

Xiang then spoke, saying: "Compared to last year, this year I made four achievements. I got success in my studies, I got to eat great food, I got beer on the table in front of me, and I got someone with me in bed."

To which her mother replied: "I'm sorry, sweetheart, but Uncle and Aunty Qi who live upstairs have all their kids and grand kids living overseas, so after your grandma and grandpa ate, they went upstairs to keep them company by playing mahjong."

Lu Xiaobei: "Yes, very nice."

Xiaoya: "But we don't have any lighters! Should we go borrow one?"

Under the dark skies, beside that burning spark, the brightness of that young girl's face was hard to conceive.

My goddess gave me the knowledge of skin care, as well as explaining the concept of Pareto's Law, where input and output are often unbalanced. From what I understood, just applying a skin cream would take care of 80% of my skin care routine!

"She didn't allow it, but it was said for Miss Xu to hear, so don't let that slip tomorrow, okay? Everyone only got a can of beer and a pack of sparklers each, and there's no more to get." Xiang Yi was the one to respond this time.

"No way!" Xiaoya then rolled her eyes, adding, "Well, that's not true, my dad actually said so before. There's no way I should believe him, right?"

Lu Xiaobei: "Has anyone ever told you, the actual foundation of your facial features are very good-looking?"

Her words making Mo Yichen say impolitely, "People who quit smoking don't keep carrying around a lighter with them."

My goddess even said that my rounded up understanding of the concept wasn't too shabby either. ~(≧▽≦)/~

Mo Yichen: "We don't need to, Xiang Yi smokes."

Third Update

The sound of Xiaoya's father's voice then came from the receiver, "Happy New Year, Xiaoyu! And remember, a new year means you need to study hard, alright?"

Mo Yichen divided the sparklers into four, then asked, "Are we going to hang out on the balcony?"

"I know, sweetheart. Anyway, what are you guys up to over there right now?"

"No way!" Xiaoya then rolled her eyes, adding, "Well, that's not true, my dad actually said so before. There's no way I should believe him, right?"

Xiang Yi: "I used to smoke, but I already quit!"

After the two tapped their cans together, Xiang Yi, seeming like a drinking pro, downed all her beer in one go, then asked: "Xiaoya, what's your hopes for this new year?"

N/A

Mo Yihen tapped her finger against the ring on her own can, her face covered with a flush of light pink on account of the beer she had drunk so far, giving her a look more lovely than the blossoms of spring, as she then went on to say, "For the past year, I'm really happy I got to know you guys. Even though it's hasn't been that long since we've been together, every da we had so far made me feel really happy."

Covering the receiver, Xiaoya motioned to Lu Xiaobei she should go first, and after ending the call she would leave as well.

Xiang Yi: "I'm just holding onto it in case there's a need comes up in the future."

Lu Xiaobei: "You should."

"Do you know why I don't make wishes?" Lu Xiaobei, then continued, "It because if there's something I want, I will make it my goal, and do everything in my power to achieve it. Wishes require you to earnestly pray to god, but I don't believe in any god, I only believe in myself."

Xiaoya: "Huh?"

Xiaoya: "Huh?"

Under the dark skies, beside that burning spark, the brightness of that young girl's face was hard to conceive.

"Do you know why I don't make wishes?" Lu Xiaobei, then continued, "It because if there's something I want, I will make it my goal, and do everything in my power to achieve it. Wishes require you to earnestly pray to god, but I don't believe in any god, I only believe in myself."

Haha... Everyone's guesses were all really imaginative, but nobody guessed it right. So I'm just going to tell you guys straight away, the gift was... Dabao!

Lu Xiaobei ignored their bickering, picking up the lighter from the table before taking Xiaoya out to the balcony.

In no time at all, the new year had almost arrived.

There was nothing to do for entertainment in that town, so apart from the night's feast, a few students borrowed a few packs of playing cards from the building's owner, while the others stayed up to watch the Spring Festival Gala on the TV.

Notes:

^1. Pareto's Law s named after an Italian Economist who came up with the 80:20 principle. He believed stuff like 80% of a country's wealth was held in 20% of the country's population. And his principle can be used to say stuff like 20% of efforts can result in 80% of gains, yadda yadda yadda...

^2. I'm going to list the class types in order from highest to lowest. 竞赛班: lit. competition class, are like AP classes and the top level classes in the school. Below them are 重点班: lit. key classes, are like honours classes, with a less rigorous class contents than the aforementioned. Lastly there is 平行班: lit. parallel classes, which can be considered are regular classes with students who have mid to low grades, and this is the class grouping Xiaoya is currently in (and we know where her grades stand👞).

anasiana: Damn, Captain, god damn (^///^)
